Lesson planning is key for successful implementation of a good class and a robust academic program in a school. Most times teachers lay a lot of emphasis on the teaching materials and the classroom transactions. If lessons were planned keeping in mind the "the Big takeaway" and the "Assessments" that student will answer post the unit - lesson planning will become more meaningful and student centric learning will happen. This session outlines the Understanding by design principle or the Backward design principle of lesson planning.
